Micro-Blading FAQ

Do I need a consultation? I know I want it can't I just come in, other places that I have called haven't required it?

  • Yes, you do need a consultation and there are a number of reasons for that with the most important being that we want to take the time to go over exactly what the process is as well as perfectly define what kind of shape, style, color, and look you are going for before something semi-permanent is done to your face.  Secondly, we also want to make sure that Micro-Blading is the right choice for you; right now because Micro-Blading is so popular there are a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings surround it and what it is.

I know I want it, can't I just come in, other places that I have called haven't required it?

  • Many other places don't require a consultation because to them it's just a quick money making service, like getting your hair done, and they aren't worried about doing a good or bad job, or the fact that their work will be on your face for multiple years.  Additionally, a lot of people are performing Micro-Blading without a license and they do not have the education, knowledge, skill, or experience to discuss the procedure with you in detail; so they don't want you to have a consultation because they don't want to display their lack of knowledge before tattooing your face.

So wait, did you just say Microblading is a tattoo?

  • Yes!  This is surprisingly one of the most misunderstood concepts of Microblading.  It IS a tattoo!  On your face!  Microblading is the pigmentation of the uppermost layer of the skin, through which fine hairs are drawn and incorporated into your existing eyebrow or as a replacement for eyebrow hairs that are not there; utilizing a small needle and semi-permanent makeup pigment.  Because of this it is very skill intensive and a good artist is the difference between authentic looking hair strokes and blurred, messy eyebrows.

So what is the difference between Microblading and Permanent Make-Up?

  • The difference is the style and application of the permanent makeup pigment; Microblading is a specific type of permanent makeup where permanent makeup is the general term for a number of different techniques.  Usually, when you get permanent makeup on your eyebrows it is done in a manner where the color is more distributed, like normal makeup, and can have a variety of effects and shading.  Microblading is the specific application of tiny permanent makeup "hairs" that can be used to simulate, or enhance, natural eyebrow hairs.  Because of this, the skill of the permanent make-up artist is paramount to getting the look and style that you desire!

If this is Permanent Make-Up, does that mean you need a license?

  • Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Please, even if you do not decide to use our services, please please please ask your potential artist if they are licensed and insured.  Unfortunately, many practitioners in the State of Colorado are unlicensed and that is why their prices are so low.  They also don't have any education and many are just learning as they go on clients faces and if that wasn't bad enough we frequently see cases where people have used regular tattoo ink or other sub-standard materials which can made a bad job worse.  We see botched jobs on a fairly regular basis and unfortunately it can be EXTREMELY hard, and many times IMPOSSIBLE, to correct without tattoo removal or time.

Are you licensed?

  • Yes, Tina Marie is licensed by the State of Colorado to perform Semi-Permanent Make-Up and Microblading procedures.  Additionally, she has years of experience, has received education and training around the world in a variety of techniques, and has attended Microblading Master Class Workshops in New York and Europe to learn advanced techniques and procedures from Europe and Russia.   Tina has been Microblading since before it became a buzz word, and she has invested her time and money in the proper education to provide you with the highest quality service in Colorado.

What kind of education or knowledge is required for this?

  • Outside of the basic license required by the State there are many areas of study when learning these techniques; which include facial morphology and bone structure, brow shaping and design, color analysis, color theory, proper handling of equipment, prevention of cross-contamination, as well as practice work and the opportunity to observe procedures before actually performing them under supervision.  Tina Marie has certificates in all of these areas as well as certificates for specific techniques that she earned by attending classes where she was trained by, and then observed, procedures performed on models before then performing those same procedures on models under the supervision of Master Instructors.  After performing procedures in the real world she then continued her education at Master Level Workshops & Training Conferences where she learned advanced techniques and performed them upon models under the supervision of Internationally recognized Microblading and Permanent Make-up Master Trainers.  This is the one of the many differences between getting a Microblading procedure at Knight Beautique compared to other practitioners; Tina Marie is a Master Level Artist.

How long does it last?

  • Generally, it lasts at least 2 years, and sometime longer.  It is very important to use the correct type of facial pigment and not just normal tattoo ink as many places we.  We use only top quality, medical grade pigment designed specifically for facial semi-permanent make-up.  Since it is a pigmentation of the uppermost layer of skin, the color fades continuously over time.  This fading process is affected by lots of factors, including the type of pigment that was used, your metabolism, cell regrowth, circulation, sweat production, etc.  If you wish to maintain the look, it will require touch-ups, but each person is a little bit difference and therefore holds the color different lengths of time.

So it doesn't last forever?

  • No, but that is actually a good thing!  Because our face, facial expressions, skin, and mostly importantly our TASTES are changing over time, the fading allows you the opportunity to adjust your eyebrows over time.  If you do not refresh the color with further treatments it will be absorbed and processed out by the body as well as be removed from external influences so there is no after effect.  How long it takes to completely fade depends on the individual and the factors in their life.

Does it hurt?

  • Yes, it does; but we utilize a numbing creme to reduce the pain and improve recovery.  There will be slight redness after the procedure but nothing that requires extended downtime or recovery.  After the procedure you can go about your life as normal, you'll just need to follow the aftercare requirements that are provided at the time of your service!

Why don't you list the colors and styles that are available?

  • We don't list them online because it is not something you can just select out of a drop down menu; there are so many options available and each Microblading procedure is unique.  The color and style, along with a number of other choices, are all decided during the consultation.  This allows us to uniquely tailor the experience to you and make sure that we match the right color and style with your skin tone and your desires.  The consultation is more than just a discussion, you will be provided with styles, colors, and then a projection of what the procedure will look like on you after measurements are taken of your face according to the golden section.  This will give you a good idea of how things will look when the procedure is done so that you can make an informed decision on whether it is the look you are trying to achieve!
